Nicenet Posts/Discussions:

The Nicenet posts will be similar to what we've already done as a class in 4800. Prompts or questions will be presented and you will be expected to not only post your reaction or idea but also conference with fellow students.

Posts will be done through the ENGL. 4800 portal under "Group Sexual Orientation."

Tues 2/22:
1)As an educator, what do you think the advantages and/or disadvantages are in teaching this book?

2)Having a Utopian setting as the backdrop, what parts of the story do you feel would be feasible in real life/classroom?

3)The students at this high school are free to express themselves without repercussion or embarrassment. How does this differ in real life? In a realistic setting, how would you address these issues?

Lesson Plan:

After reading "Boy Meets Boy" by David Levithan, we will explore the novel in depth through a large group discussion, as well as on nicenet. However, you will also be expected to create a single lesson plan focusing on the novel. The lesson will be specifically for the text and will be presented in a secondary classroom, most likely 9-12.

Below are example lesson from Western Michigan student Wiki, however the level of creativity and class involvement is up to you.
