Providing students with the necessary tools needed to understand and adapt to their surroundings is essential as an educator. Although we often focus our curricula on what is required of us, we must also acknowledge the social and cultural issues in and out of the classroom, in this case sexual orientation. Literature is a wonderful way to examine and explore the problems that are faced by our students each and every day.
